How can I upgrade my VPS to a higher plan or a longer-term plan?

In this article, we are going to talk about how can you upgrade or downgrade your VPS plan to other plans.

Quick Access:

What should I do if I want to upgrade my current VPS to a higher VPS plan?
What should I do if I want to upgrade my current plan to a longer-term plan and get the discount as well?
And how can I downgrade my VPS to a cheaper plan or a shorter-term plan?

It is possible to upgrade your VPS plan either to a longer-term or to a higher plan with higher resources allocated to your VPS server.

What should I do if I want to upgrade my current VPS to a higher VPS plan?

If you wish to upgrade your VPS plan to a higher VPS plan, please first open a ticket with our VPS support department and ask our support team if there are any available resources on the node (the node is the server that your VPS is located on).

Scenario A (Not always possible)

We will create the upgrade invoice and then you can proceed with the upgrade process by paying for the upgrade invoice.

However, if not enough resources available and if you have a backup of your VPS data, then you should proceed with Scenario B or C.

Scenario B (Recommended)

Always a fresh install is recommended. Most of the time we are out of resources on a specific node, so a clean install is recommended, however, please make sure you do backup your data as all the data will be wiped out. This is the recommended method as you will get a brand-new VPS server with the upgraded VPS plan, and then everything will be fine and smooth.

Scenario C

If you do not want a fresh install and want to keep the current data and configuration, you can request for a migration of your VPS server to another node, and then we will migrate your VPS to a new node and perform the upgrade as well (Please note, it takes few hours to complete their request).

What should I do if I want to upgrade my current plan to a longer-term plan and get the discount as well?

For example, if you wish to upgrade your monthly plan to a yearly plan then simply open a ticket on our support helpdesk, and then let us know about your preferred billing cycle, so we can proceed with your request and change your VPS billing cycle accordingly.

As a note: The longer the billing cycle you choose, the more discount you will receive for your VPS renewal price.

And how can I downgrade my VPS to a cheaper plan or a shorter-term plan?

It is possible to downgrade a VPS server to a cheaper plan or change its billing cycle to a shorter one, however, there are a few limitations to the downgrade process.

  1. What should I do if I want to downgrade my current VPS to a cheaper VPS plan?

We are always ready to hear from you if you have any issues with our services through our support helpdesk, but if you still want to downgrade your VPS plan to a cheaper and lower plan, you can order a new VPS server with your preferred cheaper plan and then move your data from the old VPS server to the new cheaper one, and then you can cancel the original VPS server.

This is the only way you can downgrade a VPS server as the drive size of a VPS cannot be shrunk.

  1. What should I do if I want to downgrade my current plan to a shorter-term plan?

For example, if you wish to downgrade your yearly plan to a monthly plan then simply open a ticket on our support helpdesk, and then let us know about your preferred billing cycle, so we can proceed with your request and change your VPS billing cycle accordingly.

Please also bear in mind that if you want to change the billing cycle to a shorter one, then the discount amount per month will decrease as well.
